Giving Tuesday, on November 28th this year, is a perfect time to consider notions of service and generosity. With the shared goal above in mind, please consider a couple of ways you can support your values. As you know, the advocacy and implementation work that underpins the safety of those managing allergies never stops. Your generosity of time and treasure will ensure this important work continues.

In addition to your financial generosity, volunteering your time also helps support your values. Here are a few volunteer opportunities to consider.

Stacey and Jared Saiontz in the New York State Assembly Chamber in May of 2023Join Us in Albany

Our big event every spring is Food Allergy Awareness Day in Albany. In 2023, we had an intrepid group of about 15 volunteers and staff who met with over 30 legislators, in their offices and off the New York State Assembly floor to gather support for bills important to all. Finally, after this year, following the lead of Stacey Saiontz, Teachers Training finally passed. Support for legislation stabilizing insurance coverage and pricing for epinephrine was gathered. The team was also approached by two Assembly Members to support a possible funding mechanism for Gio's Law.

Your time and presence in Albany is vitally important to educate Legislators what the community needs to be safe in the community and proposals on how to address the issues. As one of our long time legislative sponsors, the Honorable Tom Abinanti said, "to make the noise necessary to get life saving legislation passed."

The full team at the Table in AlbanyJoin us to spread the word at the Booth

In addition to on the ground legislative work, being out in the community is also important. To build support necessary, people are needed to staff the booth in Albany, health fares, conferences, and outdoor events in the summer. It is the one-on-one conversations with passionate, informed volunteers at the booth that build public support for your shared cause.

Because of our regular presence at Frontier Field during baseball season, management created a peanut free section of the stadium.

Like all of us, those managing life threatening allergies, enjoy eating outside the home. While food service and hospitality companies are gaining awareness about their role in helping the community stay safe as they manage their allergies, there is an opportunity for you to help focus their attentions on what they can do.
